PEN launched its Strategic Plan (2022 – 2026) to guide its impact translation for the next five years. Building on PEN’s previous successes and learnt lessons, this Plan seeks to position PEN’s impact and brand as a National Civil Society actor whose deep partnerships with grassroots organizations and their networks enables it to engage and bridge the gap between national level players, policies and actions, and the grassroots’ actors.
As per the Strategic Plan, PEN’s Vision is A Kenyan society with strong sustainable institutions that enhance equity and dignity of citizens while its Mission is to enhance effective service delivery and citizen transformation through institutional capacity strengthening and coordination of partnerships.
‘As PEN, we work with citizens, their organizations, private sector and public institutions for we believe that, IF we build effective and sustainable citizens’ organizations and public institutions, entrench citizen participation and engagement in public affairs and build resilient communities, THEN accountable, transparent, responsive and citizen – centered leadership and development will be realized in Kenya’ said Chris Mbiti, PEN’s Executive Director during the launch of the Strategic Plan.
To achieve the goals of this Plan, PEN will seek to: build capacity and offer technical assistance to citizens and their organizations, sensitize and mobilize communities of various issues, build linkages among stakeholders, build movements, networks and coalitions; and conduct research and policy advocacy on various thematic issues that related to our strategic program priorities.
This Plan will be implemented through the following Strategic Program Priority areas:
- Effective and Sustainable Citizens Organizations and Public Institutions
- Citizen Participation and Engagement in Public Affairs
- Building Resilient Communities
- Building Institutional Capacity of PEN
