Meet The Team

Chris Mbiti

Executive Director

As the Executive Director, Chris provides day to day leadership and management of PEN which includes programme design, implementation and ensuring accountability and reporting to the PEN board and stakeholders including the beneficiaries. He maintains liaisons with other CSO leaders, government and international development partners. He is an experienced development practitioner with over 16 years of experience having worked with both international and local NGOs in Kenya and Republic of Namibia.


Judith Ochieng Gondi

Finance & Administration Manager

Judith provides the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the organization has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure financial strength and operating efficiency. She has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations (NPOs) to help them design, implement and strengthen their finance, human resource and administration systems. She has over 12 years of experience working with both local and international Not-For-Profit organizations.


Anne Macharia Irara

Financial Compliance Officer                                            

Anne ensures the quality of financial reporting as well as organizational statutory compliance.She supports efforts of management to develop and implement sound financial and accounting systems. Anne is also a trainer in financial systems for both finance and non-finance personnel to Kenyan CSOs/ CBOs. She has over 8 years of experience in supporting Not-for-Profit finance and accounting while ensuring organizational statutory compliance.


Judy Gachathi

Programme Administration Officer

Judy provides professional administration to PEN programmes and efficient logistical support to the PEN Board of Directors. She is also the overall coordinator of PMDC responsible of Business Development of PMDC ensuring the achievement of PMDC strategic goals. She has over 17 years working experience with Not-For-Profit as well as in the Educational sector in Kenya and the UK.



Mary Kanini Mutuku

CBO Project Officer

Mary provides support to project that is geared towards strengthening citizen’s participation in Machakos County. She works with community groups and organisations by enhancing their capacity to design and implement integrated livelihood initiatives. Building capacities of community groups and institutions to not only exploit local resources at their disposal, access external assistance, but add superior value to their products to increase their wealth. In particular support measures in food security, microfinance, Natural resources, civic education, market access etc as well as advocacy on key livelihood issues. She has over 11 years of experience in supporting projects that are geared to strengthening citizen’s participation and CSOs in Machakos.


Faith Alukwe Imbaali

Programme Assistant

Faith provides professional support to the program team in developing Donor and Board reports as well as efficient logistical support to all program events. She is in-charge of maintaining and updating the organizational database and mailing lists. She also ensures proper procurement procedures are undertaken in terms of selecting service providers. She has over 4 years of experience in providing professional support to program teams.


Ludivicus Omollo

Communication Officer

Ludivicus provides communication support to the PEN team by ensuring the timely preparation of newsletters and other documentations, updating of the social media platforms and assisting in the other programmatic areas. He has previously supported programmes and undertaken communication roles at a number of government and non-governmental organizations.


George Karanja

Program Associate - OD and Resource Mobilization

George is a development specialist with over 20 years of experience, working with non-profit organizations in the East African Region. George has coordinated community development programmes for Action Aid International Kenya, German Technical Assistance (GIZ) and Poverty Eradication Network.  In recent years he has been involved in supporting organizations become effective in their missions.  He has facilitated participatory assessment of over 50 organizations, as well as, development of capacity building and institutional strengthening plans for numerous others.  George has supported and mentored many organizations in various capacities enabling them achieve positive outcomes in key result areas of institution strengthening, planning, programme development, governance and leadership development and fundraising.


Thomas Kirongo

Program Associate – OD & Strategy Development

Thomas is an organizational development and change management specialist with vast experience in capacity development particularly for the Not-For-Profit Organisations (NPOs), Strategy and Governance Development specialist. He also supports the formation and management of networks and coalitions. His areas of expertise includes: Organisational Capacity Assessments (OCA) and Development of Organisational Capacity Enhancement Plans, Organisational Development, Governance and leadership development, Strategic Planning (Balance Scorecard), Work Programming and Planning; Advocacy and Policy Influencing , Partnerships and Networking , Resource Mobilization and Training, Facilitation  and Mentoring.


Sammy Keter

Program Associate – Evaluation, Communication, Brand Specialist

Sammy is a social development specialist with over 20 years relevant working experience, 15 of these in senior management positions at country and international level. He plays an active role in the areas of programme management, research and development, monitoring, evaluation, learning and communication, resource mobilization and the development of quality assurance and marketing systems for Civil Society and private sector organisations. 


Danson Kimeu

Office Assistant

Danson maintains office operations by receiving and distributing communications; picking-up and delivering items; serving customers while making sure office refreshment is available for the team at all times.
